Through Seeds programs, participants will benefit from a better understanding of Indigenous history, their own history, and the contemporary Indigenous experience across North America. There are many misconceptions about Native people. Many have no knowledge that Indigenous people exist in modern life and are a functioning part of the economy and social structure. Often in schools, Native American people are discussed as if we are no longer exist. Relegating Indigenous people to the past and not acknowledging our presence today dismisses the reality of who we are and what we’ve been through. For the preservation and health of Native American people and cultures, it is important to emphasize in education that Native American history is our collective American history. It is important for Indigenous people to have positive opportunities to share our narrative, past and present. Seeds programs are celebrations of Native America and provide that opportunity in an enjoyable, educational, and impactful way.
