Debut Performance and Panel Discussion of Zachariah Julian's Project Obtuse
We Are the Seeds has partnered with The Library Company of Philadelphia and historian Paul Wolff Mitchell for "Beyond Glass Cases", supported by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. In Project Obtuse, Jicarilla Apache artist Zachariah Julian uses color, sound, and movement to confront a dark chapter in the history of Indigenous peoples in America. To inform and inspire his composition, Julian examined The Library Company's collection of Samuel George Morton's work, known today as among the most influential architects of scientific racism.
